Pal-KTTKS matrikine · collagen-signal cosmetic peptide
Overview
Matrixyl is the trade name introduced in 2000 by the French company Sederma SAS. Its active ingredient is Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 (called Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-3 before the INCI naming standard was corrected in 2006), chemically a palmitic acid (16-carbon fatty acid) chain conjugated to the pentapeptide Lys-Thr-Thr-Lys-Ser (KTTKS), commonly abbreviated Pal-KTTKS. This pentapeptide sequence is a natural degradation fragment of type I procollagen (a matrikine, or matrix-derived signal peptide); palmitoylation was added to improve lipophilicity, skin stability, and transdermal penetration. Vialdyne releases Matrixyl as a lyophilized peptide against a ≥98% HPLC main-peak specification, supplied with a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis covering RP-HPLC purity, mass-spec identity, appearance, and water content. Lots are released only after the COA is on file.
Applications & buyer fit
Cosmetic-peptide buyers fall into two groups: established beauty / med-aesthetic brands extending an existing line, and OEM clients building a private-label catalog from scratch. The first group usually wants active material plus stability data in their existing carrier matrix; the second usually wants a finished formulation under their label. Both need INCI naming verified, regulator-specific safety files (CPNP for EU, FDA OTC monograph for US where relevant), and packaging-compatibility data.
