Cerebrolysin

Overview

Cerebrolysin is a complex mixture of low-molecular-weight peptides and free amino acids obtained from standardised enzymatic hydrolysis of purified porcine brain tissue. It contains a broad spectrum of neurotrophic and neuroprotective peptide fractions and is studied in neurodegeneration, stroke-recovery, and cognitive research models for reported neurotrophic-factor-like activity. Because it is a defined mixture rather than a single molecule, the released-batch COA characterises it by HPLC profile and MS rather than by a single HPLC main-peak; total peptide content (specification ≥95.0%), peptide-profile mapping by LC-MS, molecular-weight distribution (<10 kDa majority), water, endotoxin, heavy metals, residual solvents and microbial limits are available on request and listed on the COA when tested.

Applications & buyer fit

Cognitive and neuropeptide buyers are predominantly research labs running in vivo rodent studies. The dominant administration route in the literature is intranasal, these peptides are not meaningfully blood-brain-barrier permeable when delivered systemically. For in vivo workflows, endotoxin and microbial-limit testing is recommended at the COA stage so the bioassay readout is not confounded by contamination unrelated to the test article.
